A Real Sweetie

Though she and Uncle Joe didn’t get to see us often here in Philly, Aunt Denise liked to keep up with things. She asked for, and usually received, pictures of our boys in their Christmas card every year, because she liked to keep them on the fridge. When we did see each other, she would take my face in her hands and tell me how lovely I was or some other sweet phrase. I smile to remember her, years ago, saying that I dare not call her “aunt” since I was only eight years younger than she was. So sometimes I did, and sometimes I didn’t, but the love and respect for a great lady was always there. She will be missed.
